They are not behind when it comes to fashionable footwear in cold weather also. This winter, a wide range of boots, loafers and brogues are making buzz among the style-loving people. It is all about getting that ultimate chic look by pairing the knee-length boots with short dresses or teaming loafers with jeans.
“Generally we give extra attention to only to clothes during winter season and often seem to settle for athletic shoes when it comes to footwear,” says fashion designer Nandita Rajpurani.
“It is high time for women to take winter footwear seriously. In last few years, boots have gradually emerged as a style statement. However, still a lot can be experimented like laced-up boots, wedge heel boots and knee –height boots with buckles can be a good option,” she suggests.
Laced-up boots and wedge heel boots have already made strong style statement in international fashion circuit. Hollywood divas like Katie Homes, Miley Cyrus, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rihanna have, from time to time, flaunted their glam laced-up boots.
However, for Indian girls, Nandita suggests boots with fluorescent laces for a trendy look and plain peep toed wedge heel boots that will add an extra grace to the attire.
Those who don’t have penchant for heels can go for flat fur lined boots. They give a cushion like comfort and warmth a quilt in winter to the feet . It can be teamed up with dark shade jeans and jacket. Quick on the uptake of this fashion have been Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu and Rani Mukerji, sporting this style.
Loafers are also an option for flat footwear lovers. Basically loafers are men’s footwear but they are huge hit among women too these days. Available in different warm and dark colour tones, loafers are ideal shoes for jeans and short dresses. Markets are already flooded with traditional flat loafers but high-heeled loafers are something to look out for these winters as they have an extremely classy look and can be worn for parties. Going by the designers’ view, bright coloured loafers should be preferred for a feminine look.
However, when it comes to brogues as footwear, there are only few takers. Internationally, brogues are common among both men and women but in India, the fashion is still in the nascent stage. What will you flaunt this winter?
