For the first time in the history of Haiti, an international fashion show ‘Haiti Fashion Week 2012’ was held in its capital city of Port-au-Prince to provide an international platform for local designers to showcase their creations.

Designs depicting the rich cultural heritage of the Caribbean nation, created by thirty Haitian and foreign designers, were showcased at the fashion week ‘Moda Yiti 2012’.

The show mainly aimed at revitalization of Haiti’s fashion and apparel industry, which will gradually aid the nation to rebuild itself since the country is still recovering from the 2010 earthquake and the recent sandy storm.

Tanya Marie, Rykii De Jude, Daniel Oberti and Musset Payant were some of the prominent international fashion designers who displayed their latest creations at the event.

The event was further illuminated by the presence of popular models Angelova, Izabel, Camille Olivia, Fishel, Nayeli Fanfan and Marina Danae.

The fashion show was organized by the Haitian Center for Support and Promotion of Enterprises (CHAPES) and the Haitian Network of Designers (HAND), in association with Haitian Fashion Industry.
