There's the music, of course, as well as the inspirational talks, the shopping, and community activities, but in addition to all that, Essence Festival is a fashion bonanza.
"You guys look fantastic," Essence Magazine's digital fashion and beauty director Julee Wilson told the crowd on Friday (July 1) at the Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Convention Center. "Because of that, we always do this amazing Street Style Fashion Show, where we go out and walk around the Convention Center all day and look for great-looking stylish attendees like yourself. And, today, it's all about prints."
With those words, the first 2016 Street Style Fashion Show began, featuring sometimes dazzling patterns modeled by female and male music festival fans. Wilson said there would be a similar show Saturday from 5:30 to 5:45 p.m. and Sunday 5:10 to 5:25 p.m. on the Beauty and Style runway.
